We're migrating from Server 2003/IIS6 to Server 2012/IIS8 and I'm having an issue with the virtual directory set up. On the IIS6 machine I set the path to \\server\folder, and connect as a specific user and everything works.
In IIS8, when I do the same thing and I do a test connection I'm getting an authorization error; Path might not exist... and when I try to browse to a file via a browser I get a 500.19 0x80070032 error adn the phyiscal path is displayed as \\server\folder\filename. If I switch the '/' to //server/folder in IIS everything is good but when I use a browser I get the same error, and the physical path is displayed as //server/folder\filename.
I've tried installing/configuring a few different features such as Services for NSF, Windows Authenticatioin under IIS, I've set the identity on the application pool of the site to NetworkService (I've even created a separate application pool for the directory, as well as set it up as a virtual application instead of a directory), I've tried all 4 different path credientials logon type, and a few other things that don't immediately come to mind.
I can browse to the share through Windows explorer just fine and have full access using the ID I've configured in IIS. Looking for any other suggestions.
Thanks,
Ken
